On October 21, the Huashutai Tunnel of the Xi’an-Shiyan High-Speed Railway, constructed by China Railway Tunnel Group, a subsidiary of CREC, was successfully completed. This marks a major milestone toward the full completion and operation of the Xi’an-Shiyan High-Speed Railway.
The Huashutai Tunnel is located in the Qinling Mountains’ low to mid-altitude region within Shangyang County, Shangluo City, Shaanxi Province. The tunnel stretches for 9,343 meters, with complex geological conditions, including slate and sandstone. About 50% of the tunnel passes through fault zones and densely jointed rock, presenting significant challenges and high risks during excavation.
Once the Xi’an-Shiyan High-Speed Railway is completed, travel time between Xi’an and Shiyan will be reduced to less than one hour. Additionally, the journey time between Wuhan and Xi’an is expected to be shortened to about 2.5 hours.
