From September 10 to 13, President Zhang Zongyan and Vice President Ren Hongpeng led the delegation of CREC to Vladivostok, Russia, to attend the 4th Eastern Economic Forum. They participated in the main forum which Chinese President Xi Jinping, Russian President Vladimir Putin and heads of state including Mongolia, Japan and South Korea presented. Mr. Zhang delivered a speech at the Russia-China Business Dialogue, co-chaired by Xiao Yaqing, Chairman of the State-owned Assets Supervision and Administration Commission and Mezentsev, Chairman of the Economic Policy Committee of the Russian Federation.
The 4th Eastern Economic Forum with the theme of “Far East – Expanding Potential Limits”, focuses on important issues such as the world economy, global and regional integration, new industrial technology development as well as global challenges of Russia and other countries. Also, a series of meetings were held on the issues of economic promotion, infrastructure modernization and improving the livelihood of the people in the Far East. Under the invitation of Russian President Vladimir Putin, Chinese President Xi Jinping attended the Eastern Economic Forum for the first time. The Forum is considered as the most important high-level exchange between China and Russia during the second half of 2018. As an important neighbor of Russia in the Far East, China has been attaching great importance to the cooperation between the northeastern region of China and the Far East region of Russia in terms of economy, trade, infrastructure and energy. Chinese government sends large-scale business delegations to participate in the forum and the related activities every year, while the Forum helps many Chinese enterprises find opportunities to invest in the Far East, and gains fruitful achievements.
On September 12, President Zhang attended the "Russia-China" Business Dialogue co-chaired by Mr. Xiao Yaqing, and H.E. Mezentsev. As an invited guest, Zhang presented CREC's profile, international business development and market running in Russia during the meeting. He said CREC is willing to further strengthen exchanges and cooperation with all walks of life in Russia. By adhering to the enterprise spirit of "Striding Forward and Building for Excellent", CREC will give full play to the advantages in the whole industry chain including survey and design, construction management, investment development and operation management, in order to make greater contribution to Russia's infrastructure construction and the development of economic and trade cooperation between the two countries.
In the afternoon of September 11, Zhang Zongyan accepted an exclusive interview of CCTV's Topics in Focus. He presented CREC's active participation in the “Belt and Road” Initiative and the outstanding achievements in the process, especially in the Russian market. China Railway Eryuan Engineering Group, a subsidiary of CREC, is doing the survey and design of Moscow-Kazan High-Speed Railway Project. Their work has been fully affirmed by the Russian side and laid a good foundation for the future construction of the project. In recent years, CREC gained rich experiences during the construction of economic corridors between China and Laos, Myanmar, Pakistan and Thailand. CREC has maintained close communication with the Russian Far East Development Department, the Primorsky Territory Government and other government departments, to promote the “Binhai No.1” and “Binhai No.2” international transportation corridor projects. Now the two sides have reached agreement in some infrastructure projects of road and railway.
