Anthem of CREC—“Trailbreaker”
On June 6, Senegal’s Foundiougne Bridge was successfully closed after three years of construction by Wuhan Engineering Co., Ltd. of China Railway Seventh Group.
The Foundiougne Bridge is located in Fatick Region of Senegal. As a major project in the field of infrastructure building of Senegal’s revitalization plan, the bridge crosses the Saloum River and connects the cities of Fatick and Foundiougne. With a total length of 1,209 meters and a width of 11.4 meters, the bridge is the longest sea-crossing bridge in West Africa, as well as the longest and the biggest bridge in Senegal.
Before the completion of the bridge, traffic of people and goods across the Saloum River relied on ferry boats and barges due to a lack of bridge connecting both banks. Now with Foundiougne Bridge built, it is expected that the journey to drive from the Fatick Region to the eastern and western parts of Senegal will be shortened by three hours.
