　　The Communist Party of China (CPC) Central Committee and the State Council on November 3 held an annual ceremony to honor distinguished scientists, engineers and research achievements in Beijing. Chinese President Xi Jinping, Premier Li Keqiang, member of the Standing Committee of the Political Bureau of the CPC Central Committee Wang Huning, and Vice Premier Han Zheng attended the ceremony and presented the awards.

　　Aircraft designer Gu Songfen, an academician of Chinese Academy of Engineering, and nuclear expert Wang Dazhong, an academician of Chinese Academy of Sciences, won the national top science award. The country also conferred the State Natural Science Award on 46 projects, the State Technological Invention Award on 61 projects, and the National Science and Technology Progress Award on 157 projects. Eight foreign experts and one international organization won the International Science and Technology Cooperation Award.

　　Of the award-winning projects, the study of fatigue and wear-resistant property of high-manganese steel for railway tracks, participated by a CREC’s subsidiary, won a second prize of the State Technological Invention Award. Another six projects mainly undertaken by CREC, including one about tunneling equipment manufacturing and engineering, were presented with second prizes of the National Science and Technology Progress Award.
