Find more recordsIn April 1953, the Wuhan Bridge Engineering Bureau was established to undertake the mission to construct the Wuhan Yangtze River Bridge, which was open to traffic on October 15th, 1957. After the completion of the bridges, CREC employees continued to forge ahead with a persistent and hardworking spirit and devoted themselves to building bridge around China, embarking on a new journey.

(MBEC) independently developed the 16Mnq steel for bridges, which was hailed as the “self-dependent steel.” In 1968, the Nanjing Yangtze River Bridge, the first double-decked road-rail bridge designed and built with Chinese technology in China, was completed, heralding a new epoch of Chinese people constructing large-scale bridge projects on their own.
