At 10 o'clock on September 5, the main span steel girder of Zhuji Intercity Jinhai Bridge, a critical project in Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area, was closed by China Railway Major Bridge Engineering Group. Jinhai Bridge is the world's first multi-tower cable-stayed bridge on the same floor as a highway and railway. At the same time, with a deck width of 49.6 meters, it has set a new world record for the widest multi-tower cable-stayed bridge on both highway and railway.

The bridge, with a total length of 1369 meters, starts from Hengqin New Area of Zhuhai, crosses the Modaomen Waterway of Xijiang River, and ends at Zhuhai Airport East Road. It is a crucial control project for the second phase of Zhuji Intercity Railway. For the first time, the bridge adopts the multi-tower rigid frame system highway and railway dual-purpose cable-stayed bridge structure. The main span is 3 × 340 meters of highway and railway four-tower cable-stayed bridge on the same floor. In the middle of the bridge deck is a double-track inter-city railway of 160 km/H, and on both sides is a two-way six-lane expressway of 100 km/H.

The person in charge of the project introduced that precision control is the most difficult in the closure stage, and the bridge requires that the error be controlled within 1 mm. Therm expansion and contraction significantly affect the bridge's manufacturing and installation of steel girders. The project team ensures the high-precision closure of the bridge by using the jacking device at the closure mouth and applying active jacking force.

It is reported that the steel structure of Jinhai Bridge consists of four main steel towers, eight large segmental steel girders, and 39 standard steel box girders (including three closure blocks), with a total of 52000 tons of steel girders and towers. Currently, the bridge has entered the construction stage of the bridge deck system in an all-around way, and it is planned to enter the track laying stage in the fourth quarter and reach the opening conditions next year.
